Pet Diaries: Dog vs. Cat

I got this from the Joke of the Day website. I have two cats, and thought this fits.
The Dog's Diary:
8:00 am - Dog food! My favorite thing!
9:30 am - A car ride! My favorite thing!
9:40 am - A walk in the park! My favorite thing!
10:30 am - Got rubbed and petted! My favorite thing!
12:00 pm - Milk bones! My favorite thing!
1:00 pm - Played in the yard! My favorite thing!
3:00 pm - Wagged my tail! My favorite thing!
5:00 pm - Dinner! My favorite thing!
7:00 pm - Got to play ball! My favorite thing!
8:00 pm - Wow! Watched TV with the people! My favorite thing!
11:00 pm - Sleeping on the bed! My favorite thing!

The Cat's Diary:
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Jerks!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage. Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now.

Windy Day at the Lake
It was pretty chilly today, especially for early September. The temp was only 50 degrees and it was really windy and cloudy. This brought home the fact that in less than a week, summer will officially be over.
I love taking walks when the weather is windy and cold like it was today, so I grabbed my camera and headed over to the lake.
It was pretty lonely down there today, not a soul was out. I love days like this...
This gull was having quite a time trying to fly in the wind. It seemed like it stayed in the same place the entire time I was out there.
I am sooo looking forward to that :)

It's been a while!
I've come to the conclusion that I am by far the worst blogger alive. That's OK...I can live with that. Truth be told, my life isn't all that exciting to warrant writing about it every single day.
It's been a busy summer so far. My son graduated from high school this past June. He'll join his older brother at college in a little over a month. My daughter will be entering high school in September, and she's really looking forward to it.
We just got back from vacation in California. We drove this trip because it cost way too much to fly us all out there, but next time we are definitely flying! 30 hours in a car with only an overnight stop in a hotel is way too long. Ugh...The one good thing about driving is that I was able to get lots of pictures of the scenery, and I took a ton! Both my husband and I are originally from California and my family still lives there, so once we got there we spent most of the time with them. We had a blast, my daughter was 5 years old when we left Calif. for Minnesota, had never been to Disneyland before, so we took her. We were there from open to almost close, and we went on all the "good" rides (as my sons put it). My daughter even went on Space Mountain, and she loved it! It was a lot of fun being with my mom, dad, brother and sister and their families again. I miss them a lot, but I don't miss Southern California. Just too many people and too much smog. We were happy to get back home on Tuesday morning.
Now it's back to work for both my husband and I. My business has been going really well and my husband is still with the company that he started working for last year. After what we went through last year, we're both very thankful that we have the jobs that we have.
I think that's all the catching up I have for now. I've been putting off work for too long this morning, so I'd better be off.
Have a great day, wherever you are!

New Moon
New Moon is coming out, and our house is all the buzz. Yes, my daughter is a Twilight fan, she's read all the books, as have I (although I'm not quite as big a fan as she is). She's really looking forward to this coming Friday because the new movie in the Twilight Saga, New Moon, is opening and I have agreed to take her and a few of her friends. While I'm curious about the movie, and how it compares to the book, I'm a little apprehensive about seeing the movie on opening night. We went to see Twilight on opening night last year and it was crazy in the theatre with excited girls and women. Not my thing, to be honest. If I had my way, we'd wait a few days before seeing it, but a promise is a promise, and we are going on Friday, with a sleepover afterwards. I'm already tired just thinking about it :)
Just curious...are there any movies that anyone can remember they just had to see on opening night? If so, what movie and why?

Another shot at this blogging stuff
So, I logged in today and found that my old friend Midleah is gone. I'm bummed, but I haven't been on much myself and I have to admit, I've thought about shutting this site down more than once. But, I figure I'll keep it. When the mood strikes it's always nice to have a place to write down my thoughts, no matter how scattered they may be.
A lot has been going on in my life. With the kids back in school, I've been busy with work, football games, band practice, play practice and more recently, getting over "swine flu". Nasty business that stuff is, let me tell you. My whole family came down with it about a week and a half ago, and we're still not 100 % healthy. Not fun, let me tell you.
Anyhow, enough about that. It's Friday at last, and I am really, really happy about that. I hope the weekend is a good one for one and all!

It's been forever
Time flies by when you're having fun...or when you have children. I can't believe it's been so long since I've been here. This year has been one giant blur, and all I want to do at this point is hold up my hands and scream "STOP"! Unfortunately I don't see that happening, so I guess if I want to maintain this blog of mine I just have to make some time for it.
Anyhow...I'm still alive. Life is going very well, just incredibly busy with work, school, football, band, running my youngest too and from friends' houses...you get the picture. I know I'm no busier than a lot of moms out there, but by the end of the day, I'm pretty tired.
So, forgive me for the long absence. Hopefully that will change once we get into a routine around here.
Now for something completely unrelated:

Have a great week!
